McCallumTV
Background
In January 2009 - the students of McCallum High School's Fine Arts Academy in Austin, Texas began filming a pilot for PBS. The pilot story, conceived and written by Media Technologies teacher Ken Rogers, was directed by a fourteen year old student - Zach Aguilar. All the remaining crew for the pilot were also students of the academy.
But being a teacher (or a HS student for that matter) is time consuming. To date, the pilot has not raised enough capital to be picked up by PBS. But why let all that hard work go to waste?
Update Feb 22, 2010
The pilot, which red carpet premiered in May 2009, is a prime candidate to be transformed into a webseries. Ken Rogers and the McCallum HS Media Tech students are currently working to do just that with the help of Ainger Co. Productions.
